The Musée de Louvre contains more than 380,000 objects and displays 35,000 works of art in over 60,000 square meters. Sounds pretty intimidating, right? Despite the daunting size of this museum, I believe it is a must see for everyone who visits Paris and here are a few tips for making your way around the Louvre.
Save Plenty of Time
I went to the Louvre at the end of the day, which was definitely a mistake. Don’t go after a long day of walking and touring the city because you will be exhausted and overwhelmed. Save yourself enough time and energy to be able to enjoy the museum.
Pick up a Map
The maps provided in the museum are extremely useful when trying to navigate the 60,000 square meters. The map highlights famous pieces of artwork, which makes finding artwork, such as the Mona Lisa, much easier to find.
Choose a Topic
What are you interested in seeing? Choose an era or style of art to focus on because it is impossible to try to see everything in the museum.
Don’t Forget to Look Up
The Louvre is filled with intricate and beautiful ceilings that are not to miss, so look up whenever you remember!
